Ideas that cartoonists come up with, rough storylines, drawing experiments and even thoughts that we dare not share in public—these are what sketchbooks contain. Sometimes it’s a way of brainstorming. Sometimes it’s simply a matter of saving time.
I feel conflicted about sketches. I often cringe at the amateurish drawing. But sometimes it’s the very lack of polish that makes me love a drawing.
